Dulux chairman’s brush with success as Kirribilli home sells for $6.5m
For the chairman of paint company Dulux, it’s perhaps surprising that Peter Kirby seemingly decided to make all the walls in his Kirribilli home white. But that didn’t impede the sale of the harbourfront residence at auction recently, where it went for $6.5million – about $1million above what Kirby and his wife Erica were expecting.
The 180 square metre, three-bedroom apartment in the prestigious ‘Kirribilli Grande’ complex was bought by the couple for $3.2million in 2001. Perhaps its most envious feature is the view of Sydney Harbour, which can be enjoyed from a private terrace, and was billed by agent David Gillan as “ringside seats for New Year’s Eve fireworks”.
