Governor of Victoria’s Kew home sale tipped to top $4.5m
The Kew family home of the late Sir Henry Winneke, Governor of Victoria between 1974 and 1982, is currently taking expressions of interest, and is expected to sell for over $4.5million.
Even in the prized suburb of Kew this would be a remarkable result, as the median price in the area is just below $2million. The home was, however, designed in 1890 by renowned late nineteenth / early twentieth century architect John Beswicke, the man also behind ‘Talana’ in Hawthorn East and nearby mansion ‘Rathgar’.
The historic five-bedroom property has been home to the Winneke family for three generations and recently underwent a decade-long renovation process, meaning it now includes a first-floor master suite, sandstone terrace with solar-heated pool and double garage. View the property here.
